PURPOSE:
Ultrasound (sonography) is used to evaluate the abdominal organs such as the liver, kidneys, pancreas, gallbladder and spleen.
INDICATION:
Common reasons for this examination include abdominal pain, nausea, blood in the urine and blookwork abnormalities.
PROCEDURE:
Ultrasound gel is applied to the patient’s skin. Multiple images are taken of all of the appropriate organs.
PREPARATION:
The patient should not have anything to eat after midnight.
The sonographer will do her best to provide you with a comfortable experience.
